A few great spots to grab a bite

One fantastic perk of having to run all over the county showing houses is discovering and  trying different restaurants.  Today I want to share with you just a few places that I've recently been to that are worth a visit.

Tacos El Amigo

This place now has 3 locations and having eaten at two of them multiple times I can confirm, it's delicious.  With everything getting stupid expensive, especially take out, this local chain is more than reasonable.  The most expensive item on the menu I think is 18 bucks for the siete mares soup that's loaded with seafood.  Kids meals are around 5 bucks and are huge.  The tacos al pastor are fantastic, the tortas hit right and as I write this I realize there are quite a few dishes there left that I need to try.  A major perk of Tacos El Amigo is that unlike most places in the Springs these guys stay open late.  At least midnight during the week and 1am on the weekends.  Honestly everything about this place is fresh, authentic and delicious.  They have these super tricked out hot dogs too, see the pic below!

Oliver's Deli

Think like New York style, tables outside, checkered table cloths.  Meat sliced to order in the setting of a old school corner store type deli.  When places like Panera bread charge upwards of 20 bucks for a super mid meal Oliver's provides much better quality and better value.  The portions are massive and their food delicious.  They've been in business here since 1983 and are definitely a neighborhood staple.  In addition to fantastic sandwhiches they bake an assortment of sweet breads and fresh pies.  These guys cover all the bases with a solid breakfast menu as well as salads and wraps too.  This is a great place to eat in the first half of the day as they close at 4pm during the week, 2 pm on Saturday.  This is a family run business and they take Sunday off.

Tacos por Favor

This place is kind of a newcomer to the scene but is bringing a refreshing spin on the Mexican classics.  So far I've only been here once and got the steak and mango salad that you see right here.
Everything on the plate was super fresh and crisp and the flavors came together beautifully.  The carne asada was tender, not overly salty, and just overall really good.  This place has like 10 plus different types of tacos including birria, cochinita, rajas and shrimp to add to your usuals.  They also have a bar with some intriguing options I ddin't get to due to it being lunch time and me being somewhat employed.  If you're on the westside right there by Marygolds check this place out for a fresh twist on some classics.

Leon Gessi's Pizza

Absolute classic for central springs.  This was the zza of my childhood and is my go to still.  New York Style thin crust pizza in a timeless pizza joint that refuses to change.  They sell beer by the pitcher here and offer up killer weekly deals.  Tuesdays buy a large pizza, get a large cheese pizza free.  In 2026?  C'mon man that's awesome value.  This is like the old school let the grease drip onto your metal plate and wash it down with a PBR type of place.  Please Gessi's, don't ever change.  :)  Check out the pull on this cheese man!  Our next generation is forming the same memories I grew up with.
